Stepmark (“we,” “our,” or “the App”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information Stepmark uses and how it is handled.
Stepmark is designed to keep most of your walk and run data on your device. We do not sell personal information and we do not use third-party advertising trackers.
With your permission, Stepmark uses GPS location to draw your route on a map, calculate distance and elevation gain, and continue recording while the screen is locked (when you grant Always or background location access). Location points are stored on your device as part of each session. Stepmark does not upload raw GPS tracks to our own servers.
With your permission, Stepmark uses device motion and pedometer data to estimate steps, cadence, and related metrics during a session.
If you enable Save Workouts to Apple Health, Stepmark may write completed walk/run workouts (including distance and timing) to Apple Health. Health data is managed by Apple under Apple’s privacy practices. You can revoke access in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.
If you create or join a Walk Off, Stepmark uses Apple iCloud (CloudKit) to share challenge information with other participants. This may include your Walk Off display name, invite code and challenge title/dates, distance totals contributed to the challenge, and an anonymous CloudKit user identifier provided by Apple. Walk Off data is stored in Apple’s CloudKit service for the container used by Stepmark. You must be signed into iCloud to use Walk Offs.
Stepmark Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple. We do not receive your full payment card details. Apple provides purchase entitlement status to the App so Premium features can unlock.
Sessions, badges, settings, and cached Walk Off information are stored locally on your device using Apple frameworks (including SwiftData). Deleting the App removes local data unless it has also been synced through Apple services you enabled (such as iCloud for Walk Offs or Health).
Stepmark does not require a Stepmark account, and we do not operate a separate Stepmark login server. We do not intentionally collect advertising identifiers for cross-app tracking.
We do not sell your personal information. Information is shared only with Apple services you enable (Health, iCloud/CloudKit, App Store purchases), with Walk Off participants limited to leaderboard fields described above, or if required by law.
Local session history remains on your device until you delete sessions or the App. Walk Off records in CloudKit remain available to participants for the life of the challenge records unless removed by Apple or future App updates that clean up expired challenges.
Stepmark is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this Privacy Policy as Stepmark evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
